TfS Initiative: Event App for a Workshop Day
A simple event app for a 200 participant corporate workshop, built to match TfS Initiative’s mockup and expanded with navigation, networking, voting and feedback.
The challenge
TfS Initiative approached Savvy with a clear request: a simple event app for their corporate workshop with 200 participants. They came prepared with a visual mockup showing exactly how the app should look. We used that as the blueprint.
TfS needed a straightforward app that would help participants navigate the event and stay informed. But the venue presented a challenge: the event took place in a multi-level building with various rooms across different floors. Finding your way was going to be difficult. A standard map wouldn't be enough.
They also wanted to keep it simple. No mandatory extras or features that didn’t serve the day, just what the event actually needed. They knew the basics, but the full scope of what the day would require wasn’t clear yet.
The solution
Savvy built the app directly from the provided mockup. For the venue we created an interactive floorplan that showed participants exactly where to go, which level and which room. It was built specifically for this event and matched the actual layout of the building.
This was the most complex part of the development. Getting the navigation right for a split-level venue took careful work. The focus was on usability. Participants had to find their way without thinking about it.
While reviewing the event setup together, it became clear that some extra functionality would be useful: LinkedIn networking, live voting during sessions, collecting feedback afterwards. These features came up in conversation and both TfS and Savvy agreed they would fit the event well.
Because of how the app was built, we could add only what made sense without starting over. The delivery was done once with a clear handover, and data was kept to what was necessary.

The results

Why it matters
TfS arrived with a clear picture of what they wanted. They left with an app that worked. The combination of their specific requests and Savvy's practical experience resulted in a tool that felt obvious to use.
Participants didn't have to figure anything out. They opened the app and it did what they expected. That was the goal from the start.
